It was originally intended that these tanks should be of welded construction and made outside. They were accordingly made in .037" thick material, and flat end plates and baffles. As it now appears they will not be welded, could you please get out schemes for these tanks with the dished end plates and baffles as in the original scheme FCD.565 in which the material is .24 S.W.G. tinned steel with soldered joints and at the same time increase the thickness of the body of the tank to .037 to enable us to do away with the stone guard. The dished end plates and baffles have completed 15,000 miles on 8.B.V. and appear stiffer than the flat baffles and less liable to drum although of light gauge.
