TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M20.8.26. 12-EX. STEERING. x7430 x7420 We have now seen Hancock's daily reports about the steering troubles on this car, but so far we have not seen any further comments. We have in the meanwhile looked into the question of adding some friction to the pivots if it should be found necessary or desirable, and see that it can be done without difficulty on the existing pieces. The friction in the form of a plate clutch on this type of axle is very much better than on the old 40/50., and we do not suppose that there will be the objections to it that there were to the similar scheme on the old axle. We are expecting to hear shortly further remarks from you about this steering, when we propose to discuss with R.{Sir Henry Royce} the question of adding friction.
