Dear Mr.Daniell,

We are sending you the star centre of one of the latest type joints that has run a dynamometer test. On this occasion there has been no shortage of lubricant. Tests we have made on the bearing surface show that the hardness is now only Rockwell C 55-59 or 700-746 VPN/30 and c44-689 VPN/5. The case is also only .030 deep.

We wonder whether the surface has softened with running or whether it got through below par, and whether the case is under the correct thickness. In our opinion .062 would be a more suitable amount.

We look forward to your views on this subject.

Kind regards,

Yours sincerely,
