To RG.{Mr Rowledge} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3989 R5/M19.3.26. RE. EAGLES 8. & 9. X.3989 X.4123 X.3862 I cannot think it is right to make these cylinders with inserted valve seats at this eleventh hour. I fear it is the wearing of the guides allowing scrubbing of the faces that cause seats to wear. We do the same on our new engines, and Condor perhaps? Has this been confirmed.
