C7 To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for EH. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R4/IB71015. COPY. X2758 X.405 8/10/8 Will you please make the necessary experiments on three cylinders of the aero and chassis engine to determine what law the length of the induction pipe follows with varying speeds. The minimum speed we are interested in will be 1250 revs. and the maximum 2500 revs. You have told us that it is 32" for 1600, but we have no idea whether it is directly inversely proportionate to the speed, or whether it follows some other law. We would also like to know whether the pipe must always be after the carburettor, or whether we can count on making the pipe the correct length by a suction pipe previous to the carburettor. We see no reason why this latter arrangement should not work, which might be more convenient in the case of the 75 HP engine. F.H.R. | ||
