X STAGO By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KT. 20.4.33. 20/25 PETROL TANK. We have received complaints that petrol spills out of the filler cap on R.R. cars thereby making an unsightly mess on the wing and wasting fuel. You will have seen our report showing how we can improve the venting of the filler cap, but we cannot stop petrol getting out of the vents unless we improve the baffling of the tank. 18.C.IV. is going to France next week and we should like to fit three baffles to its tank, as on the Bentley, with the passage area one half, as recommended by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} If you can get somebody to ensure that this can be done using the existing petrol gauge, and let us have a sketch, we will get it on the car before it goes away.
