17. CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS IN A POOR CONDITION

Knock in engine when accelerating from slow speeds. Dismantled the conn. rods certain bearings were found to be in a poor condition, loss of metal etc., same with a report were sent to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} for examination. Fitted a set of new RR conn. rods which cured knock. Dismantled the lower halves of the main bearings, same were in an OK. condition. Prior to dismantling the white metal scale was found in lower half.
