1278 Experimental department 8th July 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.5/AP. Harrison Radiator Division, General Motors Corporation, Lockport, NEW YORK, U.S.A. For the attention of Mr.H.H.Smith, Sales & Service Dept. Dear Sirs, We have received your letter of April 13th, for which we thank you, and note the quotation contained therein. We should require our thermostats set to commence opening at 170°F - 176°F, and would like to know whether this would affect the quotation. We have one or two queries with regard to this thermostat - we should like to know what form of by-pass is normally used with the type of thermostat which you show on your drawing D.108572 - is it a permanently open pipe or is some means provided for closing off the bypass when the main valve is open.? What size of bypass pipe is used.? Also is the thermostat unit shown on your drawing balanced as regards water pressure.? We should like you to send us as soon as possible three sample thermostats to your drg. D.108572, but set to open at 170°F - 176°F, - we are sending you an official order for same. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
