Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C [underlined] Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} [struck-through] X356 BY6/G.16.6.28. SLIPPER DRIVE USING FABRIC FRICTION DISCS. I attach hereto copy of a note from OY. in which he deals with the above subject. Apparently they are still working on two proposals :- a/- The Russel woven disc. b/- Soft impregnated Spaulding fabric disc. These latter apparently are partially impregnated with Bakelite, but not to anything like the extent of the ordinary Bakelite fabric washer, so that when sanded off they expose a fabric face capable of retaining oil.
