Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}11/RW.25.9.36. Bentley Brakes. We are in the process of standardising two modifications to the Bentley brakes, one of which cures a definite complaint, the other one improving the braking characteristics. We are referring to the anti-judder scheme and aluminium drums. We consider both these changes are necessary, but both increase the cost of the car, so we do not feel that the job is finished until we have either saved the increased expense elsewhere on the brake system, or made it unnecessary. In the Girling system now running on 1-B-IV we achieve this object, and we claim that the brake system is indistinguishable from the R.R. system It is also more than 30 lbs. lighter. The attached sheet shows that we save £12 which will more than cover the extra cost of aluminium drums, and the extra expense of anti-judder parts is not incurred. The two prints attached hereto show that this saving is effected by very considerable simplification of the mechanism. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.F.Martindale. | ||
