BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X2066 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG20.11.28. OIL FOR HYPOID GEARS. X2066 X4481 We are very anxious to be able to use a standard English oil for our axles fitted with Hypoid gears. At present Gleasons only recommend American oils which are very difficult for us to obtain and would be quite impossible for customers to obtain. We have taken this matter up with Messrs. Wakefield and they have been in touch with Gleasons and their recommendation is that we should use Castrol 'R'. Gleasons representatives who visited England gave us to understand that they would be quite willing to carry out tests on any English oils as they realised if we adopted the gears we should have to have an oil which was distributed in this country. We should be glad therefore if you would write to Gleasons and ask them whether they are willing to carry out tests and confirm that Castrol R.{Sir Henry Royce} is a satisfactory oil. The oil can be obtained from Messrs. C.C. Wakefield & Co., Roebling Buildings, 117, Liberty Street, New York. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
