COPY OF LETTER FROM THE ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB.

May 29th. 1923.

Dear Sir,

We have received a letter from our representative in Paris regarding the importation of alcohol into France, and for your information have pleasure in giving an extract as follows :-

"I have received the following letter from Mr. Baudry de Saunier who wrote the two articles referring to this matter in the Touring Club Gazette :-

"The members of the Royal Automobile Club need have no apprehension as regards the quality of petrol they find in France. The law does not force the importers of petrol to mix 10% of alcohol in all the motor spirit they actually sell, but only to purchase from the Government a quantity equivalent to 10% of the total amount of petrol they put on the market. In these circumstances tradesmen will place on the market different qualities of petrol containing 15%, 20% alcohol for instance, as well as pure petrol. In consequence, cars coming from Great Britain while touring in France will always find pure petrol everywhere and containing no percentage of alcohol whatsoever."

Trusting this is the information you require, and always at your service.

Yours faithfully,
