Bentley Clutches:

The thrust race of the clutch withdrawal trunnion is greasy when assembled. When the engine goes on to the test bed the clutch operating lever should be strapped right back so that there is no drag on the thrust race. Under these conditions no oil need be added to the trunnion oil trough until the engine is in the chassis, and the Bijur system commences operation.

We suspect the clutch slip on the first large bore engine to go on the bed was due to overoiling the trunnion.
