COPY. R4/P 10.9.13. To Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Copy for Mr Day. Re Front Axle Pivot for 10 HP Cars.X.714 With reference to the 10 HP front axle, it is no doubt necessary to make this stronger and personally I would rather pay for a good job to be made of them than they to continue in their present state. With reference to Mr Chandler's drawing, I do not think this is going sufficiently far, and you will remember we decided (when we were poorer) and have already altered same to a much better arrangement. I do not know where the drawings are of this, but they consist of fitting on to the tubular axle a forked end, and providing a stub-axle of increased dia fitted with ball bearings and a hub. I believe this axle was fitted to Mr Blamire's and several other cars. Mr Nadin probably remembers. I should like the drawings sent to me together with the drawings of the front axle, similar to the light four which was fitted to the last two cylinder car we built, and which I used for some time at Quarndon. Such an extensive alteration as this, though it may be drawn by Mr Chandler, if it is thought advisable in the Repair Dept., should be passed and approved of by Mr Day, in fact I think it would COPY. | ||
