-2- Contd. (4) Now place a .050 distance piece between main switch core and armature stop and it should be found that the carbon gap is .015". At the same time, i.e. with the main switch lever still held down on to the .050" distance piece, the auxiliary switch lever is held in such a position that its own gap between core and armature stop is .060". In this position it is required that the carbon break of the auxiliary switch should be breaking and at the same time that the top silver contact gap of the auxiliary switch should be .015". These two conditions should be adjusted by first adjusting the top plate to give the .015" silver gap, and subsequently adjusting the moveable carbon contact so as to be just in contact with the lower carbon contact. (5) Now remove distance piece and allow auxiliary lever to rest on top silver contact. The main switch lever should now rest in such a position that the gap between the main switch lever side arm and the continental bakelite pressure plate should be .010", and adjustment of the stop of the main switch lever should be made accordingly. (6) The bottom contacts of the auxiliary switch should make when the gap between auxiliary switch lever core stop and armature is .035" and the adjustment of the spring supported contact should be made accordingly. (7) Having made these various adjustments, all gaps should be checked over and should be found reasonably to agree with the tables on the sheets herewith. Contd. | ||
