SUPER SPORTS CAR - ENGINE TIMING GEARS.
--------------------------------------

Referring to R2/M28.8.28. it is our general practice in small gears when a car is built up on a centre to finally grind with the unit assembled.

In the case of the timing gears, however, it was thought advisable to try out in the Experimental Department whether it was practicable since no rivets, and plain bolts only were fitted to make the parts interchangeable on the centres with the object of course of saving in cost.

One is inclined to consider, however, that the type of accuracy we require for the timing gears particularly will entail the finishing of the gear on its own centre.
