LIGHTER PHANTOM ENGINE. X.7770
EAC.7. & 9. X.7840 X.790

Since it may be some time before we have a new crankcase for the Phantom engine I think we ought to increase the height of the alum. cyl. block instead of testing it with a ¼" liner. This will make the overall height 5.9" instead of 5.4". The present crankchamber will then be interchangeable for all engines with the present length of connecting rod. It can be lightened as found desirable.

The pistons will be the one you find best of the three types recently sent through - LeC.2237. 2243 and 2245. The rods will be standard as at present.

The original aluminium head to LeC.2229 should give 4½ to 1 compression ratio. If a higher compression is required a special head will have to be made. Every thing else will remain standard parts.

Should we find shorter rods possible and desirable the maximum we can reduce the length will be 1" namely, 11½" to 10½".
