Fitting Phantom Front Axle to the SpectreCodename for Phantom III.

You will remember at the last SpectreCodename for Phantom III Conference it was decided to fit the Phantom front axle to the SpectreCodename for Phantom III.

In this decision the question of axle control arises, because we shall want to fit more flexible front springs than are at present on the Phantom, and our existing axle control will not work with a thinner top leaf than at present. We therefore have to recommend some other type of axle control.

We think the best scheme is springs shackled at the front, otherwise no alteration. We like this much the better of the two alternatives, because it is simpler. The question is, whether it will affect the steering geometry. We want to try it out quickly on 28-EX for this reason.

Will you please arrange pieces to be fitted to 28-EX which will produce the same effect as those you fitted to 3-B-IV, i.e., block the front shackles and fit the shackle to the rear end. We are arranging to fit the SpectreCodename for Phantom III steering worm cut with a lead to suit a right-hand car. We shall be able to run this in conjunction with the springs shackled at the rear, which will give the necessary information to the Design Dept.
