Your Ref. M/WM/S/FN.B.

For the attention of Mr. Blackith.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter dated Nov. 9th. concerning Ruston & Hornsby Ltd.

We are very interested in the hardness figure obtained with a .45 Carbon steel shaft.

We note also that oil pressure is 15 - 20 lbs. per sq. inch. Depending on their own running conditions, our experience is that pressure should not be below 30 lbs. per sq.inch running at 3000 R.P.M.

You will note that one main bearing has a groove running round the outside, and in view of our recent conversation on this point it would be worth having such a groove in the c'case.

This engine seems to be an interesting application for AC.9 and I suggest that if and when they have run their first test, we might with advantage go together and see how it strips.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
