Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Grylls,

You will remember that on my recent visit to Derby I promised to let you have a redesigned tyre within two weeks.

I am enclosing a drawing showing the redesigned tyre which we are making.

We intend to put the knife cuts in the shoulder similar to the Dunlop tyres which we tested. We expect these tyres to be finished by next Wednesday but we would like to carry out the test to compare them with the present tyre before we send them to you. We expect to be able to ship four tyres to you by Saturday, 11th inst.

In order not to delay the job we re-cut the mould which we have but we would like to make another set of tyres in which the rib marked 'W' is moved nearer to the centre of the tyre and the centre rib in the tyre is reduced to give more flexibility to the centre. Meantime, we should like you to test the first set and let us have your opinion as to whether they are an improvement over the previous tyres which you have tested.

Yours faithfully,
INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY LIMITED.
