The difficulty of using Manganese steel for brake drums and suggesting alternative materials.

Manganese steel is very difficult to produce
in the form suggested as it is extremely hard to
machine and tapping a thread in it is out of the question.
We would suggest one of the new developments in
Cast Iron heat treated to give a high brinell, a case-
hardened steel or Nitralloy.
For the experiment we have ordered similar
material to present that is .6 Carbon Steel.
