To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from RFC. c. to GJ. c. to Ly. c. to Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} X.4333 - BRUSHES FOR GOSHAWK DYNAMO. Thank you for your R1/M19.7.22. You are correct in supposing that the Z(O) is the quality recommended by the experience of Messrs. Royce Ltd. We have made quite sure on this point with Messrs. Le Carbone. The qualities of the two grades, Z and EG30, as given by the makers, will be found on the attached sheet. We have had a certain amount of trouble with the Le Carbone firm in obtaining what we require regarding other details of the brushes than grade, e.g. quite a number of brushes were delivered with faulty pig-tail connections which easily pulled out. There have been, of course, one or two alterations in our own requirements which have aggravated the difficulty. It is suggested by our Order Dept. that it would be wise to be ready with a Morganite grade of brush as they fear unsatisfactory delivery on production. The nearest Morganite brushes we have had to the Z grade Le Carbone so far are the EGO, although we have not really had a satisfactory test of a set of these. Messrs. Morganite now inform us that their EG2 grade corresponds to the Z grade of Le Carbone and should meet the case at least as well as that brush, so we are arranging to have a few Morganite brushes in these grades. (See table for comparative particulars). | ||
