[Handwritten at top] X9946 To CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG5.2.24. TURNING CIRCLE. [Handwritten next to title] X980 (struck through) X9946 With reference to the turning circle on the car we recently prepared for PN.{Mr Northey} This car was fitted with radius rods. These have been condemned and will never be fitted to any cars delivered to customers. We could not avoid fitting radius rods to PN{Mr Northey}'s car because the new springs and spring brackets which are necessary when we do away with the radius rods, are not yet available. The question of turning circles has been a subject for considerable correspondence between Derby and WW. Modifications are in hand so as to enable us to get the minimum turning circle. It is, however, doubtful whether we shall get as small a turning circle as we have at present on the left-hand lock on standard cars. As soon as we have a car fitted up with the approved parts, we will report upon the turning circles. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
