R.R. 235A (500 T) (S.D. 408. 23-4-17.) Bm. 2/156/13. To EY. from EH. Copy to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} " " RP. " " Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} ORIGINAL 2814. EH3/LG29.11.17. 29th Nov. 1917. 2 X 3173 Re - ENGINES 2100 TO 2600. X. 3173 X .3199 X 2814 We consider it is practically impossible for the R.R. Battery Ignition to be in a state so that it will be ready in quantities for engines 2101 onwards. We have not yet been able to get hold of either ebonite or stabalite to make the experimental sets. I suggest we might get a promise from the Air Board or, whoever is going to manufacture the ignition and see how long it will be after they have our permission, to go ahead that they will guarantee to deliver sufficient for the engines we shall then be making. It is no use our deciding when it shall come on if other people are to produce it. I should recommend sticking to 4 magnetos (if they can be obtained) in preference to fitting Remy ignition. When I was at Siddeley's, I learnt that they were sorry they changed one magneto for Remy. They were having a good deal of trouble with the Remy. EH. | ||
