However, we recommend the above lubrication
scheme as safe and fool-proof.

As a temporary expedient the following two
modifications are being carried out on production :-

(1) The four oil holes in the coupling shaft
(2) A different type of inserted oil pipe at the oil
hole in the coupling shaft (as shown in sketch).
This is a taper fit on the shaft with metal peened
over to retain it; it avoids the small saw cuts in the old
type of pipe, and also avoids the necessity for sweating
the pipe after it is inserted, with risk of blockage.

Also, the clutches are now assembled with the
ball bearings and the splines packed with grease.
Previously they were merely oiled.
