Test results for steering column movement with different rubber and solid rear engine mounting configurations.

RUBBER REAR ENGINE MOUNTING.

The following results give an indication of the effect of this alteration on steering column movement.

1. All supports but that holding the column where it passes through the dash. (rubber). Vertical. .100" Horizontal. .200"
2. Ditto - (solid) .050" .160"
3. All supports - rubber mounting. .090" .210"
4. All supports - solid mounting. .050" .140"

The above tests were carried out under full std. conditions i.e. front shock dampers, steering wheel on etc.

SHOCK DAMPERS.

The effect of hydraulic shock dampers is demonstrated by comparing the following figures with the last preceeding set. The following being shock dampers off - otherwise the same.

1. All supports but that holding the column where it passes through the dash. (rubber). Vertical. .200" Horizontal. .460"
2. Ditto - (solid). .140" .340"
3. All supports - rubber mounting. .150" .360"
4. All supports - solid mounting. .200" .320"

STEERING WHEEL.

The following figures are comparable with the preceding set to shew the effect of taking off the steering wheel (i.e. no dampers, no steering wheel).

1. All supports but that holding column where it passes through dash. (rubber engine). Vertical. .160" Horizontal. .450"
2. Ditto - (solid engine). .100" .380"
3. All supports - rubber engine mounting. .090" .340"
4. All supports - solid * * .120" .300"
