When used on a 16 volt supply, the contact spring of the treble horn started flinging occasionally, causing a harsh grating note. If the voltage was raised any higher, this discordant note became continuous.

This could probably be overcome by tightening the adjustment screw.

The horns in question have been fitted to an experimental Phantom III chassis No. 32-EX for tests on the road.

Although these horns are only arranged for single note operation, i.e. note loud and soft, they could be coupled up to the existing relay switch, as used for the standard wind tone horns.

Regarding the finish of these horns, Messrs. Lucas are not in favour of chromium plating these horns as an outside fitting, but we have arranged with their representative to visit us early next week, in order to discuss the whole question as in our opinion, they fit very neatly on to the Phantom III chassis in place of the existing horns. Obviously, as we wish them to be used outside they would have to be chromium plated.
