X8070 Y7070 We have carried out a number of tests on the weir and slotted type of Phantom induction pipes and have obtained more success with the top feed weir type than with the underneath slotted. The best results so far when used with the standard chassis carburetter have been obtained with the one piece weir pipe Sch.965 - see sketch - and our test bench results shew that the cold distribution and power is an improvement on the present standard type pipe. It will be remembered that our fears were it would be difficult to produce these pipes to give consistently good results due to the difficulty in casting accurately the inside contour. We therefore made a pipe with similar internal contours on the two piece scheme, or the scheme in which the feed nozzle is bolted to the distributing manifold. The previous two piece pipe departed somewhat from the internal contours of the good pipe and gave inferior results. We found however that the results with the latest two piece pipe were not so good as the original one piece weir pipe and after experiment found that there were still slight differences which had an appreciable influence on the distribution.
