Form No. S. 14. Copy out each section separately and file under appropriate reference THE ROVER CO., LTD. SERVICE MEMO. 1091 copied 23/12/36 From F.G. Hawkins. To Mr. Searle. Date 29th October, 1936. Subject A.C. Fuel Pumps, Valve Springs, and Timing Chains. Regarding your request for information concerning the above items. A.C. Fuel Pumps. 110 of these have been returned to the makers during the past twelve months. They were taken from cars produced during the last four seasons. 33 of them were chargeable at 2/6d. each and 17 at 5/- each. The two principle troubles are broken springs and the dome cracked through tightening the retaining bolt too much. Timing Chains. The complaint of noisy timing chains usually occurs early in the life of the car and in instances where it is necessary to change the chain it is due to the chain being too slack. This in turn is occasionally due to the timing wheels being too small. The total number of cases actually dealt with during the guarantee period of 1936 was only seven. This does not include noisy chains on 14.H.P. Models due to incorrect adjustment. Valve Springs. There has only been one complaint from an owner during 1936 of valve springs broken and that was only because the owner had actually noticed the broken springs. Occasionally when an engine is decarbonized a broken spring is found but its presence had not previously been noticed. Contd....... | ||
