To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5770 ? Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}9/KW.22.1.34. Re GUB-5 (Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s Car). The Test Dept. have fitted to the above Chassis the modified hand brake lever mechanism. This is part of the work necessary to enable Governor Control Dampers to be fitted and the only part of the work we could carry out in order not to give the Coachbuilders advanced information. When the modification was carried out, according to drawing, the distance between the top of the hand brake lever (in off position) and the dash should be 14.500", whereas when this was fitted it only gave 13.500". The fitter checked up but found everything to drawing. I have pointed this out to the D.O., who are looking into the matter immediately. However, in order to hasten this chassis on we have back set the bracket and have so obtained the necessary clearance. This naturally has brought the "Pull on" lever on the shaft slightly forward, making the "Pull on" rod too short. In order to overcome this a longer rod (Peregrine) has been fitted. Once the chassis is returned from the Coachbuilders this of course will be rectified. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/J.BOWERING. | ||
