Dear Robotham,

Many apologies for troubling you, but I should be most grateful if you would be so kind as to give me a little information:-

We have come across a case of an India tyre, fitted to a Bentley, showing signs of cuts circumferentially around one of the grooves of the tread. I sent the tyre to be carefully examined at the factory, and they put forward the suggestion that it was just possible that these cuts occurred when the wrapping of the tyre was removed. I am not for one moment suggesting that this was so; but it does occur to me that, if the method of removing the wrapping was to run a knife round the wrapping over the top of one of these grooves in order to facilitate cutting, the cuts may have occurred in the tyre itself by so doing. I wonder if you could tell me if this is the method adopted for removing wrappings ?

I do not wish, under any circumstances, for you to think that I am writing this as an accusation; but I feel sure you would be the first to appreciate that I only bring this matter to your notice, privately, on the chance of something of this nature having occurred, as I know you would agree with me that, if by any chance it was the case, steps ought to be taken to prevent it.

Wishing you all the Compliments of the Season and the best for 1936.

Yours sincerely,

H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Rocher
