Saturday, Dec. 31st. /38 VALENCE. To km. I regret to have to report a minor accident to 8.B.V. car, which occurred while I was driving the car yesterday between Bourg and Nantua, at a spot about 6 miles from Nantua on the Bourg side. While rounding a banked corner, the surface of which was covered with frozen snow and was very slippery, we met a Feugot car ascending the hill and in avoiding him the front of the car (8.B.V.) slid inwards down the banked road surface and collided with the offside of the Peugot. The speed of both cars was approx. 20 m.p.h. and the road surface was such that neither car was able to pull up, both of the cars skidding in attempting to do so. The road narrowed at this point owing to the snow swept off the road and banked on either side. The damage to 8.B.V. included N.S. front wing dented, N.S. bumper bar (front) bent and N.S. front wheel hub cover crumpled - no apparent damage to chassis. The damage to the Peugot car consisted of dented rear wing, scraped front wing and scraped door, with a crumpled rear hub cover - no apparent damage to chassis. The driver of the car was Jacques Gouveau, ingenieur E.T.P., address, Sanatorium, Praz-Coutant, Haute Savoie, the car No.8417.QR, and his Insurance Company - Compagnie assurance la{L. A. Archer} Paix, Paris. We exchanged names and Insurance Companies with the Peugot driver and agreed to his sketch of the accident - he will communicate with his insurance Co. We have had the wing of 8.B.V. beaten out and the bumper bar straightened at a local Garage and car is now running O.K. Attached is sketch of accident. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
