During our discussion of yesterday regarding the desirability of allowing the maximum amount of stripping and assembling work to be carried out in the Shop, I pointed out that at the present time we have a large volume of existing cars waiting for the Fitting Shop and also that there was, of course, a tremendous volume of new parts fully instructed. If your Section is fully occupied carrying out dismantling and erecting work, which can be undertaken by the Test Section, it is evident that we shall never be able to deal with a lot of the jobs which I mention below. I would like to discuss the programme which I give here, with you and form an opinion as to when, if we proceed as we are doing at present, the work enumerated is likely to be completed. NEW CHASSIS. 1. Completion of Ripplet. 2. Building of the Left-Hand Car. 3. Building of Rippletto. NEW ENGINE UNITS. There are eight new engine units outlined in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}1/JH.1.4.40. which are now completely instructed. There are also three units which have been outstanding a good while, making a total of 11 in all. As soon as these units are completed they will replace the aluminium units at present being run in Experimental cars. In other words, there will be at least 5 engine change-overs to make. - Continued - | ||
