Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/NH.4.4.38. BONNET - 28.G.VI CAR. We have instructed a special bonnet for this car with steel top plates and Widney hinge, hinge rod being used as radiator stay. The necessary schemes FCD.364 and FCD.411 have been drawn and we have arranged for By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} to detail same. Will you please shape the steel top plates as soon as possible, but omitting the fold over for the Widney Hinge, and leaving ample metal for this fold over, and despatch them to Messrs. Hallam, Sleigh and Cheston Ltd., Bagot Street, Birmingham. We are arranging with Messrs. Hallam, Sleigh and Cheston that they will fold the plates and fit the Widney Hinge, and then return same to us for fitting to the car.
