Copy of letter from:- Elliott Bros. (London) Ltd., Century Works, Lewisham, London, S.E.13. Ref.- WP/LE. Your ref.- Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}13/NJ2527. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 2nd instant, enclosing copy of a report from your Electrician regarding the electrostatic effect on Miniature Ammeters that we are supplying to you. We would say that we have made a careful series of tests and find it very difficult to reproduce the effect mentioned, in fact, unless the instrument is heated it is almost impossible to obtain a deflection. We notice your remarks regarding slightly conductive glass, and if you have any particulars of this should be glad to receive them as we have no knowledge of such a material. We should also be very much obliged if you could send us a Weston Instrument in which the effect is less than in one of our own make. We do not find that increasing the distance of the glass from the scale has any appreciable effect. Yours faithfully, for Elliott Bros. (London) Ltd. (Sgd) W. Phillips Technical Engineer. | ||
