To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/JD.{J. Draper - Frames} 704 Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/RG.{Mr Rowledge}6/JH.15.12.43. Myth Project - (BODY). Further to my memo. of the 6th. inst. ref. Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/RG.{Mr Rowledge}8/JH. giving the position with regard to the materials obtained for the above body. I have now inspected the work done on the body shell parts by Park Ward. The position is as follows - Total pieces to be made, including tapped plates, nut retainers, etc. 336 approx. Number made for the first body 48, Number made for the second body 22. In addition to these there are several small retainers and brackets partially finished. Of the total parts required to be made by Park Ward for the first body 14% finished is probably a quite fair representation of the man hours used. Practically all the larger panels are still to be tooled and made. Details applying to the first body only, as follows :- 12 main pieces finished or partially so, 45 main pieces still to be made (not started). In panel numbers this shews 21% work complete. In man hours the percentage of work complete is worth no more than 15%. My own estimate of a delivery date for the first body shell complete with wings and bonnet etc. would be 7 to 8 weeks with a minimum of 4 first class men working full time. The second body shell etc. could be completed under similar conditions in a further 5 to 6 weeks. Assuming that all material was to hand, it would probably take a further 2 weeks to paint, trim and finish either of the 2 bodies. Further, with regard to the hardware and trim items already obtained for these bodies. There are still some shortages from supply but at the time of writing there is a rather more serious shortage of the fittings already supplied to Park Ward. This may be accounted for by P.W.'s. dispersal scheme and a further search is now being conducted in their dispersal centres. We are waiting confirmation of this position from Park Ward.
