However, tests here and in France shew that we can get oil to the ball ends, though the operation is not as consistent as could be desired. We therefore think that the scheme, though undesirable, is not causing trouble on the cars to which it is fitted.

The trouble of the lever coming loose at the serrations on 13-EX is receiving attention but it is the only case which has so far come to our notice.

During these damper tests we have run a pair of standard Phantom ll front springs 691 hours before a failure occurred on one side. We think that this is remarkably good and indicates a tremendous improvement in the life of our road springs since polishing, cadmium plating, and lubrication were adopted.

24-EX car will be back in Derby this week when we will try and reproduce leakage from the damper on this chassis.
