With reference to EFC1/AT6.11.19 xx I think we should continue with our proposal to increase the spring load and use up the C. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Brushes, but from your report it rather looks as if a great deal of our trouble will be overcome by modifying the our practice as regards packing of the bearings with grease, and the method to be adopted for attending to this lubrication before despatching the chassis must be laid down in detail. I think it would be wise to scrap these light springs. The C.M.3 Brushes and the 10lbs. springs should be tested on the 10,000 mile chassis, but if you can carry through equivalent tests on the bench with this combination, in time for standardisation on the 501st. chassis this should be done.
