Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.15/AP. August 12th 1937 Messrs Ferranti Ltd., Electrical & General Engineers, Hollinwood, LANCASHIRE Dear Sirs, We have just purchased a synchronous stop clock from you. With the clock there was no wiring diagram, and we are in doubt as to the correct method of operation. Having found the 2 pairs of terminals on the back, we have connected one pair to 210 volts 50 cycles and expected by bridging the pair marked clutch, that the points would revolve. As we are intending to operate the clutch by contacts on various machinery we want to avoid any current passing through the machinery which might cause a shock to the operator. We notice you say the clock should be used in a horizontal position. Does it harm the clock to use it in a vertical position as done by Armstrong Patents' Co.Ltd.? Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS_ROYCE LTD. | ||
