-3- Ha/GP.S/MA.6.3.32.contd In terms of a 12 cyl engine, our latest performance would amount to approximately 106.0 lbs/sq.in. B.M.E.P. at a specific consumption of .436 lbs/BHP/Hr. We are hoping to have our new cylinder within a few weeks, which should improve our combustion conditions by allowing more air to enter the cylinder. In the meantime we are trying out a modified piston which will provide an improved shape of combustion chamber. We also are trying the effect of a higher compression ratio, in an attempt to reduce our delay period by providing a higher compression temperature. We are also producing an improved form of apparatus to determine the exact points of injection, by which the time lag of our previous method is eradicated. This instrument will be of considerable assistance in obtaining accurate data of our delay period. Ha/GP. | ||
