COPY OF H1/TB17.6.25. To BJ. from H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Copy to C. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} CWB. REPORT OF SUB-COMMITTEE FORMED AT TO-DAY'S SALES CONFERENCE TO MAKE SUGGESTIONS AS TO IMPROVING THE FINISH OF THE "NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I" CHASSIS. Present at the Conference were:- C. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} CWB. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} The Sub-Committee were of the opinion that the following points should be dealt with:- (1) The aluminium water pump bracket casting has a poor finish. (2) The aluminium lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the carburetter float chamber is ugly and cheap in appearance. It should be of brass. The words "Rolls-Royce" should be taken from this lid{A. J. Lidsey} and placed in some equally prominent position, where they will not be liable to screw up into an upside-down or sideways position to anyone standing at the side of the chassis. (3) The brass carburetter jet adjusting heads are very poor and light in appearance compared with the "Silver Ghost" type. (4) All "Bakelite" parts about the chassis should be of the same colour. At present some are red, some are black, and the coil is brown. Moreover, some of the "Bakelite" terminals are red and some black. (5) The oil-breather cap is unworthy in appearance of the chassis. It is light and cheap-looking, and should be more like the well made petrol tank cap. (6) Further effort should be made to clean up the main aluminium crankcase. (7) Further effort should be made to clean up the gearbox, which compares unfavourably, e.g. with the clutch housing. (8) The rear axle crown wheel case is very rough. (9) The aluminium pedal plate should have a better finish. | ||
