It has been asked by the Expl Dept. whether it is possible to move back the front jacks .3" in order that the main suspension forging bolts might be accessible with a box spanner without detaching the jacks. We find that we cannot do this as the cross steering tube is less than .2" clear of the jack on full lock. It is very easy to remove the jacks. At the same time also it is desirable that no weight should be put on the jacks when the front suspension and pan have been removed as the torsion applied to the frame arms would cause so much distortion that it would be impossible to enter or withdraw the forging whilst the load was on. It is proposed to use "Jackall" jacks which are bigger in diameter, on subsequent Wraith II cars, and if possible this matter will be attended to when the design for these jacks is being dealt with.
