R.R. 199 (500 H) (SD. 298. 15.2.17) M.P. 176549. X.4262. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} } To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} } from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 10.3.22. RE. FRONT SEATS OF 10 H.P+ D.F.P. X.4262. We send herewith a sketch shewing the required position of the steering wheel on this Car. Will Derby please return us a print immediately. We suggest that the column may be swung down, after un-fixing the support on the footboards, keeping the pendulum lever still and allowing the steering wheel to revolve. It is hoped that a suitable position of the wheel spokes can be arrived at. We would like this new steering column position and dimensions to the compressed cushions to be used on the rough wooden body being made at Derby - as we are about to instruct a proper body and would like to test the seating position before doing so.
