Hl. 1020 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/R.14.3.38. A.C.2 BEARING MATERIALS. It is true that we have completed 11,000 miles on 6.B.IV fitted with centrifugally cast A.C.2 main bearings. This car, however, has been run with an overdrive, which has limited the maximum revs. to 3,600. We shall be examining these bearings on Monday. If they appear to be in good condition we recommend that six cars are put through on test, and if they are satisfactory, production should change over. We suggest that this is necessary before the Works become committed, in view of the consternation and trouble caused by the last attempt to change the bearing material on production.
