X.2628 CHASSIS - REAR SPRINGS AND FITTINGS. X 3900

Owing to the fact that we are having considerable trouble due to plates breaking on the present type of spring which consist of a small number of thick plates, Mr. Hives advises me that it is necessary, particularly for America, to produce the type of spring we used in prewar days.

The one great advantage the present type of spring had, namely, a high and regular flexibility, which was not impaired very much as the springs became rusty, is discounted now by the fact that we have to fit a very strong shock damper to the rear axle.

I am doing my utmost to supply you with sepia prints of the old type spring withoutdelay and oyu will consequently receive them in the course of a post or two after receipt of this memo.
