X766 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 20 HP Tests in France. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E1.7.29 Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. Thanks for Hsl/LG28.6.29. I have advised PN{Mr Northey} of the contents of paragraph 1 and have also asked him to try to arrange what you require in regard to 21-EX and to wire me on receipt of my memo which went off last Saturday. With regard to the cooling tests of 21-EX, you will be pleased to hear that PN{Mr Northey} is very satisfied with the results obtained. he says: "I drove up the Lauteret, 6,500 feet, then on up the Galibier, 8,400 ft. the latter requiring 2nd gear for the whole rise of 2,000 ft; at no time did the temp. rise over 85° C. so that not one x drop of water was lost. The external air temp: was normal at 13° C; and, in the past I have at times had to fall back to 1st gear a lot and always boil furiously. My other tests of cooling are most encouraging." Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Later: I telephoned you this afternoon and read a wire received from PN{Mr Northey} as follows: HAVE ARRANGED EXCHANGE CARS WITH HANCOCK PARIS THURSDAY. | ||
