To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c.c. to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} [Handwritten, crossed out] 3/2. [Handwritten] Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/KW.20.11.36. Clutches. I suggest that a copy of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Smth.39/AP16.11.36 should be sent to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} You should arrange with him to get out some instructions for the people who are fitting up the clutches to make sure that all the points contained in page 3 are covered. This seems very important because this morning I have received from Hancock a Tie Link off a Phantom III car which has only run 400 miles, which has a tremendous amount of slack in it. It is evident that the Works did not know of the importance of having no slack in this link when a car is made. I am sending this link to you. [Handwritten annotation:] LESmuth: Please carry out. - When did you take up the matter of slack Clutch Links with the works?
