B.60 Crankcase.

Confirming your agreement with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} that you would bore out the bearing housings of B.60 No.2, top half crankcase.

We send you herewith EB.4669 to which the housings should be machined with bearing caps RE.185-6-7-8 in position.

At the same time, can you please supply one new centre main bearing to your drawing EX.36325-6.

The latter becomes necessary as a flanged bearing, to take the place of Vandervell thrust washers, which cannot be used when the case is bored out.

This complete modification was carried out by you on B.60 No.1 unit, about a year ago, and this engine has been operating satisfactorily in the Bentley lorry ever since. It is being worked all day and every day under most severe conditions than if the engine were in a normal chassis.
