X8050 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E2/M20.7.27. LIGHTENED PHANTOM WITH TURBULENT HEAD. X. 8050 X. 8080 Referring to your report BY1/H16.7.27., the policy for the modifications to the Phantom now is :- To use the existing alum. turbulent head in connection with two cast iron cyl. blocks having longer water jackets, and a lightened crankchamber 1" lower than existing standard, the existing arrgt. of units and the exh existing position of carb. being used. At the same time we are making some improvements to the valve gear to render it more silent, to reduce the weight of the moving parts, and to simplify it and reduce the cost of production. We should like to have detail drgs. of the alum. head above, and of the piston which is being used in conjunction with it on the blue sports chassis. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
