PROPOSED CHASSIS ENGINE CARBURETTER

X7080

Referring to your memo. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/ACL/LG28.1.29., and R4/M1.2.29., I suggested about two years ago the use of two butterfly valves in series to render the chassis carburetter straight through as regards its main throat, and the idea has been discussed a number of times since in combination with other features.

The original scheme proposed was as shewn in diagram.

The lower butterfly was arranged so that when closed it drained any petrol deposited below the throttle back into the low speed choke.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} added a rotary air valve directly mounted on the spindle of the lower butterfly in place of the piston and links.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
